The Cow Palace Postcard

Completed in 1941, the Cow Palace hosted the San Francisco Warriors of the NBA from 1962 to 1964 and again from 1966 to 1971. The Warriors temporarily returned to the Cow Palace to host the 1975 NBA Finals due to the fact that the Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum Arena was booked for an Ice Follies performance. The Cow Palace was also home to the San Francisco Seals WHL, San Jose Earthquakes NASL, San Francisco Shamrocks PHL, San Francisco Fog MISL, San Jose Sharks NHL, San Francisco Spiders IHL and the San Francisco Bulls ECHL.

The Cow Palace was the site of the 1975 NASL Indoor Soccer tournament finals that made Sports Illustrated and led to the Indoor Soccer boom of the late 70’s. See the Image Gallery for the full story.
