The Fresno Falcons were a classic minor league hockey team that was very well supported. My high school drafting teacher, Mr. Dufel, was from Fresno and he described going to their first arena, a converted airplane hangar. The Falcons always had trouble finding teams as successful as them to form a league. Finally, the WCHL was formed in the 1995-96 season and they had a league with similar teams.

In the 1990’s, my dad and I attended a sold out Saturday night game at Selland Arena and had a great time. It was a classic minor league arena and the sold out crowd was very knowledgeable.
