SoCal Soccer Magazine April 1976 Issue

This was a regional spinoff of Soccer America. Classic Elton John era cover. Features include George Best of the Los Angeles Aztecs: The Imported Enigma. The San Diego Jaws Announced major trades and acquisitions, players like Archie Roboostoff, Gary St. Clair and Alan Stephens joined the squad. Over in the American Soccer League (ASL) there’s a feature on the Los Angeles Skyhawks signing of Steve Ralbovsky, the former North American Soccer League (NASL) #1 Draft choice. Legendary coach Ron Newman describes the “Newman System” a new point system (very similar to the NASL System) that encouraged offensive-minded soccer.
