This Tijuana Xolos Inaugural 2007 Media Guide is from the Xolos first season ever in Liga Primera-A (Now Liga Ascenso). It laid the foundation of a dream—a beautiful Stadium in Tijuana, packed with fans watching the local team play in the first division against the likes of Club America, Chivas, Monterrey Tigres and Rayados. Soon enough, Tijuanenses (and San Diegans) shared this dream but never imagined how quickly they’d get to the First Division (Liga MX)—ascending to Liga MX within 4 years of being established in the second division (Liga Ascenso).

That 2007 squad played most of the year in “Estadio CREA”. It was like an American High School Football stadium that so many lower division teams play in, surrounded by a running track. Several previous Tijuana teams had played at “Estadio CREA” and in “Estadio Nacional”, a baseball stadium in eastern Tijuana. No team ever lasted and not having an adequate Stadium was a big factor.

This new Xolos organization was different. They vowed to build Tijuana’s first soccer specific stadium. Local fans who’d had heard it all before, took this team to heart and created a huge phenomenon in a city that was begging for some good news. Fans knew “Estadio CREA” was just a temporary phase and showed up in numbers. Momentum started to build and by the time “Estadio Caliente” opened in November 2007 Xolosmania set in and fans routinely packed all 13,333 seats. This was the beginning of Xolos Tijuana.
