WCHL San Diego Gulls Inaugural Program

For the 1995-96 season,after losing the IHL Gulls to Los Angeles (yes, yet another San Diego team left for LA) the San Diego Sports Arena management created a league of their own so hockey could continue in the arena. The birth of the WCHL created new fanbases in Bakersfield and Reno. The Fresno Falcons—a team with a long history in lower leagues—finally had a professional league to play in. Anchorage and Fairbanks rounded out this brand-new league.
