Tijuana celebrates as Xolos score big win

Midway through the second half, the layer of clouds covering Tijuana suddenly parted and the city was bathed in a torrent of sunshine.

This was the Xolos first title. It propelled them into the ”Ascenso Series“ with the champion of the following Clausura season. That following season the Xolos were runners-up to Clausura Champions Irapuato. Had they won, the Ascenso Series wouldn’t be needed by being 2-time champions. Irapuato got to celebrate their title for a week, then they fell to the Xolos the following week in the Ascenso Series. The Xolos  have been in the first division since then.
