It became an outdated and leaky facility rather quickly, but it also brought Atlantans and a wave of redevelopment back to the urban core.

The Omni Atlanta Souvenir Dedication Book

The Omni in Atlanta, GA was completed in 1972. It was an indoor arena and part of the Omni Complex in downtown Atlanta. The NBA’s Atlanta Hawks and NHL Atlanta Flames called it home. Later the Flames moved to Calgary (despite having pretty good attendance numbers in Atlanta). On July 26, 1997, the Omni was demolished. Now Philips Arena sits on the former site of the Omni since 1999.
