After graduating High School I went on a cross country sports road trip that included a stop in Kansas City and a Royals game. Kaufman Stadium was impressive then as one of few Baseball-only stadiums—refreshingly not a bowl like most other cities at the time. This program is in excellent condition.
This issue of “SKYLINES—Midwestern Architect” is from April, May 1967. Very interesting to compare to what you know about Arrowhead Stadium and Kaufman Field. The sliding Dome concept wasn’t built but the 2 stadiums looked remarkably similar to the concept drawings. Another cool note is the Kansas City A’s logo. The A’s hadn’t moved to Oakland yet but the Royals became the home team at the ballpark—winning 2 World Series Titles. The Kansas City Chiefs are a featured tenant too. The Chiefs were in the first Super Bowl (losing to Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers) then winning it in 1970 and 2020. This magazine also includes a cover letter.
