Shea Stadium Opens in 1964 and over 50,000 fans watched the New York Mets fall to the Pirates 4-3.

This original Shea Stadium Inaugural Brochure was created in the early 1960’s. It features several concept illustrations of what the stadium would look like. Originally called Flushing Meadow Park Municipal Stadium (then re-named Shea Stadium—after the man who brought back National League baseball to New York City). The stadium opened in 1964, coinciding with the 1964 New York World’s Fair. Great history of the New York Jets and New York Mets.
