1960 Cheney Stadium Dedication Brochure 1960. Cheney Stadium opened in 1960 as the home of the Tacoma Giants of the Pacific Coast League. This was their first year, having vacated Phoenix to the Pacific Northwest. General Manager Rosy Ryan and manager Red Davis led that initial Giants squad. Cheney Stadium was built in 100 days and the box seats and grandstand seats were removed from Seals Stadium in San Francisco and trucked up to Tacoma and used in the ballpark. Believe it or not but so were the light standards which are still in use.

The program is 12 pages and includes 10 construction photos and a written history about the construction of the ballpark. Another 18 photos in black and white are taken from the first series against the Portland Beavers. One page includes photos of the families of Eddie Fisher, Don Choate, Tom Haller and Danny O’Connell. And last but not least is a great color photo of the team including the batboys, trainer, radio broadcaster, business manager, GM, publicity director, ticket manager, owner Ben Cheney and the players which included Juan Marichal, Dusty Rhodes, Haller, Fisher, Jose Pagan, Matty Alou and others.
