Long Beach Sharks Inaugural Program

The Long Beach Sharks were a team in the newly formed Pacific Hockey League in 1977.

My friends and I attended most games but the team drew poorly to the Long Beach Arena. By the end of the season they were broke, sold and renamed the Rockets.

A couple of Sharks were extras in the movie “SLAP SHOT” including the late Ted McCaskill (father of baseball’s Curt McCaskill) and goalie Ron Docken.

The Long Beach Press Telegram news clipping is in the center of the program.
