The San Diego Stingrays were a charter member of International Basketball League (IBL) and played at the San Diego Sports Arena. The Stingrays’ most prominent player, for the first 13 games, was Percy Miller AKA rapper Master P. After 13 games, head coach Smokey Gaines was replaced by former NBA star Jeff Malone, and as a condition of taking the job Malone insisted on the team cutting ties with Percy Miller.
