Soccer Digest June/July 1991 Issue

This Issue is from the heart of North American soccer’s “Dark Ages” (The time between the demise of the NASL and the founding of MLS).

There were still interesting stories, competitive games and even the earliest iterations of terms like “FC Dallas” and “Houston Dynamos”.

Indoor Soccer had helped push out the established NASL but by 1991, even the indoor game was about to implode.

On the “outdoor” soccer front there were 3 primary leagues—all in tedious financial footing with shoestring budgets. Teams like the San Jose Blackhawks and resurructed brands like the Ft Lauderdale Strikers and Tampa Bay Rowdies dominated this era.
