This edition of Kick Magazine (Actually “Stadium Kick”, to separate it from “Kick Indoor”) was the game program for the San Diego Sockers vs. Team America game. Played on July 20, 1983 before a sparse crowd of 7,317, the Sockers prevailed 2-0.

After the 1980 US Gold Medal Hockey team had success as a franchise in the Central Hockey League (CHL) jelling as a team against tough competition, the NASL gave the concept a try. Team America was a professional version of the United States men’s national soccer team which played in the NASL for the 1983 season. Based in RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. Team America was hastily assembled and the team finished in last place.
