A bright spot in American soccer's Dark Ages. SoccerBowl 1989 featured the Ft Lauderdale Strikers of the American Soccer League (ASL) and the San Diego Nomads of the Western Soccer League (WSL) at Spartan Stadium in San Jose. Fans hoped the sport had turned a corner but the #WSL, #ASL and the #A-League all ultimately folded.
