The San Diego Sockers of the Major Indoor Soccer League ended the 1988-89 season with a record of 27 wins and 21 losses in the MISL. The team compiled a postseason mark of 8-6.
San Diego netted 218 goals, tops in the circuit. The Sockers conceded 168 goals, the lowest total in the circuit. Zoran Karic scored 37 goals for the team, while Paul Dougherty, Kevin Crow, Alan Willey, Branko Segota, Steve Zungul and Waad Hirmez each contributed fifteen or more also. Branko Segota accounted for 34 assists. Victor Nogueira topped the squad with 19 wins and a team-best 2.86 goals against average, pacing goalkeepers with enough qualifying appearances.
Ron Newman coached the team. The 1988-89 San Diego Sockers won the Championship.
