Soccer Corner Magazine March 1978

Back in the 1970’s soccer fans looked to the “NASL Notebook” for all of the NASL news you just couldn’t find in the mainstream media of the day. This issue featured The Cosmos, Dallas Tornado, Seattle Sounders, Chicago Sting and Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Check out the interesting feature on “American Soccer: The Overseas View” where opinions are given about the game in America at the time. Also be sure to read about Pele’s Farewell game at Giants Stadium.

“The Indoor Soccer Explosion” was a preview of the end of what was to come for the next decade and a half.

Portland Timbers Fans can re-live the nightmare season of 1977 and the house-cleaning the team did in the off-season.

Last but not least a feature on Matt & Chris Bahr. The 2 sons of 1950 USMNT player Walter Bahr went on to American football careers in the NFL.

The Player Gallery features Paul Child of the San Jose Earthquakes.

Lastly, be sure to read “Argentina, Here They Come” a World Cup 1978 preview.
